The present intersection consists of two streets: Al Sitteen Street (60 m wide) and Al Reyassah Streets (40 m wide) intersecting at one level with a roundabout geometry. At present, the at-grade crossing with a roundabout geometry cannot accommodate the present and future traffic volumes. Congestion and excessive delays are becoming daily serious problems. Therefore, there is an immediate need to consider a multi-level intersection in order to improve the Level of Service (LOS) at the intersection. A separation of the main traffic approaches with underpasses and/or bridge flyovers is considered.
